I'm a Social Scientist with a Designer's Mind...
...A combination that gets me into seemingly unrelated gigs, but they all stand under the same human engagement umbrella.
Since I can remember, I have been spellbound by the social effects of mass media. In my research, I examine how ideas/movements/products/services are born, and how they diffuse into society. I am working to bring qualitative user engagement research to virtual reality and immersive experiences that seek to make the world a better place.
I also teach meditation/motivation KRIYA. My key belief is that meditation does not need to be serious, or done in silence! I teach you the tools to practice amidst the buzz and hum of life, because that's what we're given.
A communication junkie, I hold a Bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin in Communication Arts, a Master’s in Mass Communication from the University of New Mexico, and an ABD PhD in Communication and Psychological Research Methods from the University of Arizona. I have studied interpersonal, intercultural, organizational, rhetorical, public, mass, and non-verbal communication.
I lucked out when I decided to study with Everett Rogers, the father of Diffusion of Innovation theory, at UNM. I gained a mentor and friend, and lived for a time in the Land of Enchantment. He would have lost his mind over VR!
